December 10, 2010
Dear Member,
Happy Holidays! As we approach the end of 2010 and the busy holiday
shopping season, your Co-op Board of Directors wanted to update you on
this past quarter and the exciting activities.
But first, as a special gift to you this Holiday season, bringing this
letter to the store will entitle you to 10% off a single transaction
until December 25, 2010. This 10% discount cannot be combined with any
other discounts or coupons, and does not apply to fuel, special orders,
scouts, or delivery orders. Please visit us this holiday season to join
in the festive atmosphere and find just the right gift for a friend,
loved one, or animal companion.
At the Annual Meeting, members learned of the results of the recently
completed market research. The market research revealed that a significant
number of potential customers in our immediate 5 mile trade area are unaware
of the Grange, or their perception is that we are just a gas station.
We believe this lack of awareness represents a substantial opportunity,
and we are actively taking steps to reach those customer segments.
You can help us by telling friends and neighbors about our feed, tack,
pet & wildlife, clothing, lawn and garden, and fencing departments.
And our gasoline contains no ethanol, great for increased mileage and
winterizing engines.
Your Grange staff is working on several key initiatives to better serve
you and the community. The team is focused on better serving the needs
of equine and barn operator customers through improved delivery service
and product availability. The Grange is also focused on improving the
shop-ability of the store, and becoming more active in planning events
benefitting the community.
For example, on December 18, we will be having a Country Christmas at
the Grange event, consisting of several activities for families, such
as hay rides, candy cane hunts, and children’s gift giving to needy children.
In addition, we are conducting a sock drive for homeless youth via
our Sock Tree.
Please refer to our website, www.grangesupply.com, for more information
on upcoming events and other current Grange news.
In other news, membership approved the expansion of the Board to seven
members with the election of three new board members and the re-election
of BJ Rasmussen. The three new members elected as your representatives
are Janice Sears, a retail/marketing consultant who served many years
in an executive capacity with Eddie Bauer, James Hutchins, owner of an
equestrian center and boarding operation who has a career in marketing
communications, and Brad Johnson, former Chief Financial Officer at REI
and Lands’ End. We are excited to have such great talent join our Board
to take our Co-op into the future.
